The most appropriate range of toileting aids to increase dignity and independence, from limitations as diverse as arthritis, obesity and paralysis, will be assembled in public for the first time in one place at Naidex 2007.

Total Hygiene, manufacturer of the top-selling Clos-O-Mat shower toilet/automatic WC, will feature its innovative and technologically advanced new Palma Vita, complemented by a range of toilet lifting units, the Lima Lift and Aerolet toilet lifter, on stand no D140.

They each need different solutions to reduce their reliance on carers and enhance independence. Statistics show 1 in 6 people in the UK have a limiting long term illness, and a study by Lancaster University shows that the number of wheelchair users alone has increased 100% in a decade, so there is a growing need for equipment that helps people manage to carry out basic functions of life with as little human help as possible, yet does not have an institutional ‘feel’, for their own dignity and feeling of wellbeing.”

The new Palma has been developed specifically to meet individual needs whilst maintaining or increasing independence and personal hygiene, with a carefully considered and designed range of accessories that further enables customisation to individual requirements.

Click for Naidex WebsiteThe only shower toilet manufactured in the UK, the new Clos-O-Mat Palma Vita incorporates the benefits of the established Clos-O-Mat Samoa, ie a conventional toilet with integral washing and drying, with a series of improvements. One pressing of the flush pad (by hand, elbow or body pressure), the remote control hand switch or optional ‘one touch’ triggers the washing and drying process, making it easily useable by all, regardless of manual dexterity.

The Lima Lift is ideally suited to multi-user situations, as it additionally features finger-tip control via an infra-red remote to adjust the toilet height up or down to a maximum seat height adjustment of 730mm. Drop-down arms can be raised or lowered with the lift. The unit also provides easy access for compatible shower chair use Total Hygiene produces two different versions of the Clos-O-Mat Lima Lift- flush-finished or surface mounted- optimising installation regardless of wall strength and services ducting and channelling

The Aerolet toilet lifter can be fitted over any toilet, whether a conventional WC or a Clos-O-Mat. Designed for people who have difficulty rising from the toilet, it enables them to get on and off the toilet without human help, by simply leaning against the seat, holding the integral arm supports and pressing the operating switch. The Lift can be adjusted to individual leg length and degree of body stability, to as low as 39.5cm(15 ½”), yet can accommodate weights up to 180kg (28 stone).
