MARCH 2008 - CLOS-O-MAT HOSTS UNIQUE DISNEY TRIP
The ‘buddy’ concept has reached new levels in Scotland- between
a support group of mums and their disabled children, and equipment supplier
Clos-o-Mat.
The Buddies, an informal group in and around Banff, Aberdeenshire, wanted
to organise their first ever outing together- to take their children to see
Disney on Ice’s ‘High School Musical’ production in Glasgow.
And they achieved their aim in style- thanks to Clos-o-Mat.
The manufacturer of automatic bidet toilets sponsored the trip, funding transport
costs, including provision of a stretch Hummer- decorated on the High School
Muscial theme- to convey the group to and from the event venue. Organiser mum
Michelle Gault enthused, “It was fantastic, the children had the time
of their lives! Clos-o-Mat, via its area sales manager Bill Blyth, gives us
a lot of support as a group, we are friends, and several of us have Clos-o-Mats
at home. It was Bill’s suggestion to help us with the trip: he was very
moved to see how much the children enjoyed it- particularly when the stretch
Hummer arrived!”
Added Bill Blyth, “The Buddies were a bit apprehensive as it was the
first time they’d undertaken a trip away on their own, but it went so
well. We took care to choose a hotel with appropriate wheelchair access, and
therapeutic benefits such as a spa, and organise transport that could accommodate
wheelchairs, be as easy as possible to get in and out of.”
The Aberdeenshire Buddies are an informal group for families with disabled
children, sharing emotional support and practical advice. Explained Michelle, “Our
children have different disabilities, but we all have similar issues in dealing
with life on a practical level, getting support etc- even to the level of advising
on the Clos-o-Mat! We got our about four years ago, and it has made a huge
difference to us; as a result a couple of the other Buddy families now have
them too.”
The Clos-o-Mat automatic bidet toilet is no bigger than, and looks like, a
conventional WC, but incorporates as standard integral douching and drying,
operated as standard by single body or hand pressure on the cistern-mounted
lever or the optional ‘remote control’ push-pad. The unit thereby
cleanses the user after toileting without the need for the user, or caring
staff, to wipe clean manually.
The only automatic shower toilet to be manufactured in the UK, by Total Hygiene,
