MARCH 2008 - ENHANCED OPTIONS FOR INDEPENDENT TOILETING

New options that combine to give one of the most comprehensive ranges of aids
to increase independence and dignity in toileting will be showcased at Naidex
2008.
Total Hygiene- manufacturer and supplier of the brand-leading Clos-o-Mat automatic
bidet toilet- has applied its expertise from almost 30 years’ working
with the less able, and the design skills of leading commercial designer David
Goodwin, who created the styling for Parker pens, to develop and launch the
new products, which range from accessories for the Clos-o-Mat to shower lifters.
Robin Tuffley, Total Hygiene marketing manager, elaborates, “No
two people are the same, and even if they share a disability, how it affects
them will be different. It is in recognition of this we have committed to continuously
developing our offering, to enable as many people as possible to retain their
dignity and independence in a function as private as toileting without needing
someone to help them on or off the toilet, clean them after...
“Working with a top commercial designer has enabled us to give our clients
a toilet that combines our half-century of experience with his expertise in
ergonomics, developing solutions that combine style with practicality.”
New accessories for the Clos-o-Mat Palma Vita bidet toilet, which combines
a WC with integral douching and drying facilities, include two orthopaedic
support systems which help ensure the user is properly positioned and supported
when using the toilet, without carer assistance. Utilisation of the Palma’s
optional integrated fold-down arms in the design enables the support to be
easily positioned or removed as required without the need for any tools, freeing
the toilet for regular use. The Colombia support provides an orthopaedic contoured
back, in hi-back (for trunk and head support) and lo-back (for trunk support)
versions. The Chailey support seat combines back and additional side support,
and splashguard.
For the Clos-o-Mat Palma, attention to detail and understanding of client
needs has resulted in a new soft seat is supplied in dark blue, to aid the
visually impaired, and adult open fronted options to optimise suitability for
the user; the touch sensitive hand switch has a textured surface to aid its
location and identification, and requires minimal pressure to operate, making
it ideal for those with limited manual dexterity.
The Aerolet lifter range has been added to further aid users, easing getting
on and off the toilet- whether a Clos-o-Mat or conventional WC- for those with
limited mobility. The range encompasses 11 main units, with three control options
and a further six accessories, enabling customizing of a lift to personal specification
that meets as far as possible the individual’s needs. The units replicate
the natural motion of standing up and sitting down, gently raising and lowering
the user to position them accurately over the toilet as required whilst enabling
their feet to remain in contact with the floor and maintaining the centre of
gravity above the feet for balance. After toileting, the lift can be raised
by degrees to ease access for cleansing.
Total Hygiene provides a comprehensive sales, installation and after sales
package, and offers a range of options to enable tailoring of each unit to
individual requirements.
