JULY 2009 - SEE THE LIGHT AND SWITCH...!

Total Hygiene has switched- all in its commitment to optimise client convenience...
The company, manufacturer of the top-selling Clos-o-Mat automatic bidet toilet,
has made a change to its innovative Palma Vita, aimed to make it even more
flexible in installation, and easier to use. The power switch has been moved
from low level to convenient hand height on the right hand side of the cistern,
and now incorporates subtle blue back illumination.
The switch had been undertaken primarily to make it easier for its less able
clients to power on or off as required, and to make it easier for them to see
at a glance whether the Palma is turned on- particularly if visually impaired.
Simultaneously, it guarantees the Clos-o-Mat Palma complies with appropriate
electrical regulations, and optimises its siting within a bathroom environment:
provided the Palma is fitted with an RCD unit, it can be safely fitted even
within ‘Zone 1’ of a bathroom or wetroom, ie adjacent to the shower or bath,
making it the only unit of its type on the market with such flexibility of
positioning.
Brian Hoare, Total Hygiene Director of Technical, observes, “We don’t get
many calls about a Palma not working, because it is so reliable; more often
than not, if we do receive such a call, it is simply that the unit has been
turned off accidentally, but as the power switch was sited low down and was
unlit, it was not always easy for people to know. It is essential for our clients
that their WC is working as and when they need it!
“Moving the switch higher up, and illuminating it makes it so much easier
for our clients to tell at a glance whether the unit is on or off. We have
applied a lot of care to the level of illumination too, enough to be seen without
being obtrusive.”
Manufactured in the UK, the Clos-o-Mat Palma is the latest automatic bidet
toilet from Total Hygiene, and combines a conventional WC with integral douching
and drying facilities, aimed at optimising dignity and independence for the
less able when toileting, minimising or even eliminating the need for carer
assistance. It is the only unit of its type developed specifically for the
disabled, with numerous accessories, so helps achieve compliance with regulations
on accessibility, and has been contemporarily styled to be as unobtrusive as
possible in a home or care environment.
Since its foundation 40 years ago, Total Hygiene has supplied over 40,000
Clos-o-Mats throughout the UK and Ireland, to locations from individual’s homes
through hotels and shopping centres to tall ships, with some of the original
units still in regular service. Full details are available @ www.clos-o-mat.com
