There is also the psychological impact having assistance has on residents in terms of independence, dignity and self-esteem. Further, BS8300:2009 requires that up to 15% of bedrooms are accessible, have some kind of hoist or system for improving convenience and safety and are capable of future adaptation.

The Aerolet replicates the natural motion of sitting down and standing up, automatically and smoothly lowering the user over and onto the toilet and then raising them to standing whilst ensuring their centre of gravity and thus balance remains stable. It is all controlled by the push of a button via integral arm supports on the lift. Versions can lift and lower vertically, or tilt for users with joint flexibility limitation, and either fixed over particular toilets, or be moved from room to room as required.
